Cora Miller

Cora (Corky) Mae Miller Mrs. Cora (Corky) Mae Miller, 71 of Lewiston, Michigan, formally of Lansing, passed away peacefully at home on February 19, 2013 with her husband Jim by her side. She was born on January 29, 1942, the daughter of Howard and Marie (Dickerson) Southworth. On August 17, 1974 Corky married James A. Miller in Grand Ledge, Michigan. They operated Miller's Party Store in Lansing for several years. Upon moving to Lewiston, she became a member of the Mushroom Club. She was an avid homemaker and could be found in the kitchen at anytime. Cora will be remembered for her love of cooking and baking. She never met a recipe she wouldn't try. Corky was delighted to cook for loved ones. She treasured being outdoors in her flower garden or walking to pick mushrooms. She was also known for knitting or crocheting afghans and making a few quilts over the years. Corky leaves behind many nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends near and far. She is survived by her loving husband of thirty-eight years, Jim Miller of Lewiston; son, Greg (Linda) Miller of Albion; daughter, Debbie (Mike) Funk of Battle Creek; daughter, Kammi (Mike) Dunn of Newaygo; son, Scott (Laura) Weaver of Sunfield; daughter, Marci Braman of Lansing; daughter, Sylvia (Ron) Lange of Brandenton, Florida; fifteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Marie Southworth; and siblings, Evelyn Silvernail; Rosie Sprank; and Earl Southworth. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial held in celebration of her life at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Atlanta Bible Church, Atlanta, Michigan; Pastor Roger Steele officiating. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Corky Miller may be made to Elk Country Animal Shelter, 11484 Youngs Rd.
