Clyde Ellsworth Hoover Mr Clyde Ellsworth Hoover, 81, of Gaylord, MI, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at his residence. He was born on December 22, 1930 to Norman and Lola (Lock ) Hoover in Flint, MI. His father passed away when he was very young, and his step father, Fred Brown was there for him throughout his life. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He has lived in Gaylord for the past 10 years. He retired from General Motors in 1993 after 42 yrs of service as a tool and die machinist and skilled trades; he was a workaholic, often working long days seven days a week. He was a member of the American Legion Post 225 of Lansing, MI. He liked to read, especially westerns, or just about any book he could learn from. Clyde's family was the most important thing in his life. Clyde is survived by his son, Eric (Gaila Beaudin) Hoover of Gaylord, MI; daughter, Linda (Rodger) Manley of Johannesburg, MI; grandchildren, Shannon (Barb), Chad (Leann), Merisa (Linc), Lola, and Frederick (Tammye); 9 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edna Dalton of Flint, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie; daughter, Roberta Gimenes; great-granddaughter, Shelly Manley; and sisters, Katie Burnett, Allie Wittum, and Lelia Petree. Funeral services for Mr. Hoover will be held on February 9, 2012, 2:00 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Lewiston, MI, Pastor James Mathis officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Gaylord, MI in the Spring. Memorials have been suggested to Hospice of Michigan, Gaylord.
