Claudine A. Sipe Claudine A Sipe, 78, of Atlanta, MI, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012, at her home. She was born on September 23, 1933, to Lloyd and Frances (Glenn) Frye at U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor. She lived in the Ann Arbor area until moving to Atlanta, MI in 1973. She worked for the Montmorency County Friend of the Court for over 20 years. She was a County Commissioner for over six years, and was the first female to serve as the Chairperson of the Montmorency County Commissioners. Claudine was a member of the Atlanta Congregational Church, and was still serving as the treasurer of the church at the time of her death. She also served as a Public Guardian for over 10 years. She loved to sew, and her passion was quilting. She was a member of the Thunder Bay Quilt Guild for many years, and had made many beautiful quilts for family and friends over the years. She was a charter member of the Atlanta Eagles 4077, and avid golfer prior to the last few years, enjoyed flower gardening, crafts and her music, Above all else, Claudine loved her family. Claudine is survived by her husband, James; sons, Dennis (Jone) Guest and David (Mary Jo) Guest, both of Atlanta; daughter, Julie (Russ) Kendrick of Atlanta; and son, Timothy (Laura) Guest of Wasilla, AK; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Christine Fancher of Alpena and Patricia Benjamin of Chelsea, MI; stepsons, Craig (Nancy) Sipe and Curtis Sipe, and stepdaughter, Charlotte (Tony) Blad; and nine step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brother Richard Frye and step-daughter Cynthia Sipe. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service on Tuesday, July 31, at the Atlanta Congregational Church, Pastor Keith Titus and Pastor Ginny Titus officiating. There will be visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to the Elk Country Animal Shelter, Atlanta, Michigan, or Hospice of Michigan, Gaylord, MI.
