Charlotte Thriayah Jamroz Charlotte Thriayah Jamroz, 68, of Lewiston slipped away to the next world while home, with family at her side, on the morning of April 22, 2012. Char had battled cancer to a draw for three years with the same courage, resilience and spunk that had distinguished her general approach to life. Char, oldest of five and fun-loving personality from early on, was born on 10-20-43 in Dearborn, Michigan, graduating from Garden City High School in 1962. The fact that she had made Homecoming Court at a predominantly black school evidenced Char's life-long ability to charm all whom she encountered. She had a daughter and a son during a ten-year marriage to Rick Jamroz that began in 1963. Moving upstate in 1976, Char soon began a partnership with Dennis Valice that endured until his passing twenty-six years later. Many of Char's deepest local connections sprang from lengthy periods of employment assisting the developmentally challenged at the AIS Home and working as a Teacher's Aide at Lewiston Elementary School. She also co-operated a lawn care and snow removal business for five years. The wonder that was Char resided in how very true she was to her beautiful nature. Common enough, perhaps, to see that plant life and pets respond to someone who cares. Not common at all to see how everyone fortunate enough to feel the reach of Char's warm, accepting, empathetic spirit returned the love. Everyone. Char will be terribly missed by all strands of the family she so dearly cherished and so ennobled with her constant calling card of being slow to judge and quick to embrace. She was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Dorothy Hassen and loving brother Kenneth. She is survived by sisters Linda Elkins of Decorah, Iowa and JoAnn (Mark) Kiley of Oregon, Wisconsin; brother Raymond (Carol) Hassen of Leander, Texas; sister-in-law Kdee Hassen of Valencia, California; daughter Deanna (Ron) Newell and son Joseph Jamroz of Lewiston; grandchildren Aaron and Lauren Newell of Lewiston. A memorial service will be held at Green Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Karen Thompson, on April 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM.
