Charles Edgar Wilkins, Jr., Mr. Charles Edgar Wilkins, Jr., 91, of Hillman, passed away on July 17, 2017 at his residence. He was born on September 9, 1925 in Rust Township to Charles and Gertrude (Smith) Wilkins. He married Catherine "Kaye" Banks in 1973 and remained by her side till her death in 2003. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Charles lived most of his life in Hillman where he worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction and road work for many years. He was a life member of the Hillman VFW Post 9489. He loved to be outdoors, especially when he was farming, gardening, cutting wood, or ice fishing. Charles is survived by his sons, Charles and Michael (Melissa) Wilkins both of Hillman, Michigan; step sons, Fred (Tina) Shepherd of Blissfield, Michigan, and Paul Shepherd of Adrian, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and a sister, Jannette Quantz of Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kaye; parents, Charles and Gertrude; step daughters, Donna and Kathy Shepherd; sisters, Thelma, Ruthie, Lillian, and Marion; and a brother, Herbert. Funeral services will be held for Mr Wilkins on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Green Funeral Home, Hillman. Interment will take place at Hillman/Rust Township Cemetery. Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
