Mr. Charles "Gene" Eugene McKean, 82 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on the evening of January 27, 2020. He was born on April 3, 1937 to the late, Gordon and Mildred (Ansel) McKean in Oakland, California. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy and retired after 20 years as an E-8 Radioman Senior Chief. He married his wife, Sandra (Barton) McKean on February 10, 1969 in Fort Worth, Texas and together the couple celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing. The couple has resided in Atlanta since 2001, formerly of Fort Worth. While living in Texas, Gene worked at Six Flags as a landscape foreman for almost 20 more years after retiring from the Navy. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Atlanta. He enjoyed fusing glass to make jewelry, and fishing and hunting. He loved the Atlanta area and often wished he had moved here sooner. He will be dearly missed.
Gene is survived by his loving wife, Sandra McKean of Atlanta; son, Jeff (Linda) McKean of Dalworthington Gardens, Texas; daughter, Cara Lee Epps of California; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Mildred McKean; and sister, Irene Fern McKean.
In accordance with Gene's wishes, cremation has taken place.
