Catherine Bentley

March 25, 1927 — December 10, 2014

Catherine "June" Bentley Mrs. Catherine "June" Bentley, age 87, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2014 at MediLodge of Hillman. June was born on March 25, 1927 to Norman and Mary (McDonald) Benson in Leer, Michigan. June grew up on the family farm and attended and graduated from the Hillman School. She married Estil Bentley on October 26, 1946 at the Leer Lutheran Church. She was his constant companion and help mate in his many and varied occupations. She was a very caring person and worked at the AIS Home in Atlanta for many years. June attended the Lighthouse Fellowship Church with her husband before her illness. June was a very good homemaker. She was a friend to everyone and will be remembered for her friendly nature and willingness to help those in need. She provided a safe haven for many dogs and cats and especially loved horses, of which she had many and became a very accomplished rider. She enjoyed gardening and grew beautiful flowers and fruit trees around her home and pond. She loved nature and all living things. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Our deep appreciation to the wonderful staff at MediLodge for their tender and loving care and also the Alpena Hospital. She is survived by many cousins; nieces and nephews; one of which was James Newton--her caregiver for many years; grandson, Ethan (Dawn) Bentley of East Lansing; and great-grandsons, Griffin and Cooper Bentley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Estil Bentley, who died in 2012; parents, Norman and Mary Benson; brother, Eugene; and son, Bradley. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial held in celebration of her life at a later date. Internment will take place at Avery Township Cemetery; Atlanta, Michigan.
