Carla Beth Jones Carla Beth Jones, 62, of Hillman, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. She was born on April 19, 1945 to Harry and Lucille (Brege) Schalk in Belknap, MI. She married Gary Jones on June 25, 1966. Carla spent all of her life in the Hillman area, graduating from Hillman High School in 1963. She went on to The North East Business College in Bay City where she earned a Business Degree in Stenography. She worked for 21 and a half years for North East Community Mental Health Services in Hillman. She was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hillman, and was very active there. She served as President of the Ladies group, as Sunday school chair and teacher, youth group coordinator, and chaired the Christmas program for many years at the Church. She loved God and trusted all things in her life in His hands. Carla was devoted to the community. She served for 15 yrs as the recording secretary for Hillman High School Board of Education. She was the past president of the Aid Association for Lutherans. She was the Hillman High School Class of 1985 Advisor. She was a member of the Friends Together Cancer Group. She made a difference in the lives of all the people she touched over the years. Mrs Jones enjoyed making floral arrangements as part of "Carla's Creations". She loved to write poetry and gardening. Above all else, came her family. She was the best mother a child could ask for. She enjoyed planning and then going on the annual Clear Lake Camping Trip every year with her entire family. Carla is survived by her husband, Gary of Hillman, MI; son, Randy (Julie) Jones, son, Jeff (Kris) Jones and daughter, Jenny (Tom) Taratuta, all of Hillman; son, Tim (Tammy) Jones of Ravenna, MI; son, Greg (Dawn) Jones of Gaylord, MI; grandchildren, Courtney, Alissa, Ty, Autumn, Andrea, Brooke, Nicholas, Dominic, Jessie, Skye, Julia, Jayden, A. J., Trenton, and Aubrey; brother, Galen (Sue) Schalk of Hillman; sister, Linda (Gerald) Steinke of Hillman, MI; and brother in law, Butch Bahrke of Hillman. She was preceded in death by a sister Kate Bahrke. Funeral services for Mrs Jones will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hillman, MI, Pastor Dale Jaech officiating. Visitation hours will be held today from 3-9 p.m. at the Church. Arrangements were entrusted to the Green Funeral Home, Hillman. The family has suggested memorials to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the Jones Family to be donated to the charities that Carla supported.
