Calvin Curtis Thompson

Calvin Curtis Thompson, 64 of Atlanta, Michigan, died peacefully on July 16, 2024 at MyMichigan Medical Center of Alpena. He was born in Atlanta, Michigan on December 5, 1959 to Gerald and Barbara (Coles) Thompson. Being born and raised in Atlanta taught Calvin everything he needed to know about the outdoors. He loved being outside and taking walks in nature with his wife, Kelly. He had a man cave in his garage where he thoroughly loved to throw parties and entertain. Calvin was a social man and enjoyed his many friends and co-workers. He had a green thumb and was said to have been able to grow anything. His most recent hobby was hydroponics. Calvin loved his home and property in the woods, and he truly loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is and will be deeply missed.

 He is survived by his loving wife, Kelly Thompson of Atlanta; children, Davin (Robyn Hirschberg) Thompson of Atlanta; Ryan (Angela) Thompson of Kalamazoo; Brianne (Spencer) Genow of Mio; Katie (Grant Hanson) Smith of Grayling; grandchildren, Noah Blades, Emily Thompson, Brianna Thompson, Alex Thompson, Annabella Thompson, Cash Hanson, Parker Genow, Cooper Genow; great-grandchild, Elias Blades; siblings, Eric Thompson of Dayton, Ohio; Shane (Kristie) Thompson of Lachine; Shawna (Aaron) Thompson-Wcisel of Gaines; stepfather, Bruce Autler of Hillman; many nieces and nephews; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Barbara Thompson. 

 In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service held in celebration of Calvin’s life at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Green Funeral Home, Atlanta; Pastor Dave Fisher officiating. Visitation will take place from 1:00 PM until time of service. There will be a luncheon immediately following services at the Atlanta Eagles.
