Boyd Murphy Boyd Murphy, 68, of Atlanta, MI, passed away on December 9, 2009 at his residence. He was born on July 18, 1941 to Delmas Sr. and Gladys (Carter) Murphy in Linsey, WV. He married the former Ruth White on August 3, 1963 in Burton, MI. Boyd has lived in Atlanta for the past 10 yrs, having vacationed here for many years prior. He retired from GM where he worked as a metal finisher for 35 yrs. He used to loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed camping with his children as they grew up. Boyd always liked to have people around, especially his family and friends. Boyd is survived by his wife, Ruth of Atlanta, MI; daughter, Tammy Porter of Lapeer, MI; son, Kelly Boyd Murphy of Burton, MI; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and a sister, Maudie Hardin of Turkey Creek, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmas and Gladys; step father, Herbert Starks; and a brother Delmas Jr. Funeral services for Mr Murphy will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Atlanta, MI, Pastor Roger Steele officiating. Interment will take place at the Briley Twp Cemetery. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 PM Saturday until time of service at the funeral home.
