Benny Calhoun

Benny A. Calhoun Benny A. Calhoun, 74, of Hillman, MI, passed away on April 9, 2010 at his residence after a long battle with cancer. Benny who was a retired police agent out of California and was a 50 year plus member of the Masonic Lodge currently a member of the Atlanta Lodge, he was a past member of the Lions Club, Conservation Club, and Wild Turkey Federation. Benny was born on July 23, 1935 to Rev Ewing and Ruth (Davis) Calhoun in Trinidad, CO, and had two brothers Howard and Sonny who both preceded him in death. He married Janet Miller in 1986, and retired to Hillman in 1987 from Visalia, CA. Benny is survived by his wife, Janet, of Hillman, MI; 8 children, Chris (Jenny) Calhoun of Visalia, CA, Sandy (Jeff) Guy of Minnesota, Rick Calhoun of Visalia, CA, Debbie (Ivan) Popovski of Roseville, MI, Diane (Dennis) Zuhlke of Clinton Twp, MI, Patricia (Bill) Richard of Presque Isle, MI, Sandra Miller of St Claire Shores, MI, Richard (Sherie) Miller of Chesterfield, MI; 10 grandchildren, Jessi, Zachary, Jennie, Ashlee, Craig, Stephanie, Danee, Nichole, Makayla, and Tia; 3 great grandchildren, Noah, Alex, and Lillie. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and a masonic memorial service will be held on April 25, 2010 at 1:30 PM at the Hillman VFW Hall, with the Atlanta Masonic Lodge officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the Green Funeral Home, Hillman, MI. The family would like to make a special "Thank You" to Hospice of the Sun Rise Shore, Alpena, MI. for all their caring, help, and support through this difficult time, and would like to have any memorials in Benny's honor directed to them.
