Barry Wayland Ewing Barry Wayland Ewing, age 51, of Lewiston, Michigan, formally of Skandia, Michigan, passed away at his home on December 30, 2009 with his family by his side. He was born September 5, 1958 in Gaylord, Michigan to Harry and Louise (Mowery) Ewing. Graduated from Johannesburg-Lewiston High School in 1976 and went on to Ferris State University for a couple of years. In 1979 he married DonnaJo Hubbel and went on to have two children. He began working for H.B. Carbide in 1978 and continued working for them until 2001 when he was able to follow his dreams and move to the Upper Peninsula, where he began working for A & L Iron, where he was still employed. Despite his battle with cancer Barry never quit smiling and always kept his sense of humor. Other then his family his biggest love was hunting and fishing, and watching his kids play sports. He is survived by his wife DonnaJo; daughter Roxanne Ewing of Ferndale, Michigan; son Marcus Ewing of Chicago, Illinois; brothers Chris (Debbie) Ewing, and Toby (Heidi) Ewing, father-in-law Robert (Cindy) Hubbel, and sister-in-law Pamela (Michael) Courterier all of Lewiston, MI, 11 nieces and nephews; 8 great nieces and nephews; and his springer spaniel Maggie (his sweetheart). Barry was preceded in death by his father, mother, grandparents, aunts and uncles. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 2, at 2:00 PM at the Green Funeral Home in Lewiston, Michigan, Pastor Toby Stadden officiating. Visitation will be from 11 am until time of service. Because of Barry's love of fishing the family is setting up a memorial fund in his honor called FISHSTRONG. FISHSTRONG symbolizes the combination of his will and determination to fight cancer and become a master angler, memorials should be made out to the "Ewing Family" and can be sent in care of the Green Funeral Home, PO Box 201, Atlanta, MI 49709.
