Barbara Jane Rukenbrod Mrs. Barbara Jane Rukenbrod, 73 of Atlanta passed away on June 30, 2012 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. She was born to Lawrence and Hazel (Newberry) Baxter on March 29, 1939 in Detroit. She married her husband, John Rukenbrod on July 28, 1965 in Troy and together they spent the last forty-six years together. The couple moved to Atlanta in 1989, formally of Royal Oak. Barbara worked at Engelharts Adult Foster Care Home for nine years and was a member of the Atlanta Eagles #4077 and the Lewiston Moose. She was a great person and loved shopping, cooking of any kind, and raising her family. She is survived by her husband, John Rukenbrod of Atlanta; sons, Kirk (Becky) Rukenbrod of Hale; William (Debbie) Rukenbrod of Columbiaville; Thomas Rukenbrod of Reno, NV; daughters, Liz (George) Westfall of Waterford; Kim (John) Berstraete of East Pointe; Sharon Murray of Madison Heights; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister, Donna (Jim) Green of Royal Oak. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Hazel; and son, Donald Bacik. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no services planned for Mrs. Rukenbrod at this time.
She is survived by her husband, John Rukenbrod of Atlanta; sons, Kirk (Becky) Rukenbrod of Hale; William (Debbie) Rukenbrod of Columbiaville; Thomas Rukenbrod of Reno, NV; daughters, Liz (George) Westfall of Waterford; Kim (John) Berstraete of East Pointe; Sharon Murray of Madison Heights; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister, Donna (Jim) Green of Royal Oak.
