Az Root Jr.

Az Root, Jr. Mr. Az Root, Jr., age 86, of Atlanta, Michigan died on March 31, 2015 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. He was born to the late Az and Bertha (Payne) Root Sr. in Redford, MI on February 13, 1929. He married wife, May (Frazer) Root in Detroit on August 7, 1949. Az moved to Atlanta in 1976, formerly of Howell. He worked in drywall construction for 30+ years for several different companies and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local. When he wasn't working he enjoyed being outdoors; gardening, fishing, hunting, camping, and mushroom picking. Every year on Father's Day the family would have a big get together with all the grandchildren. Az enjoyed this time and will be greatly missed by all of his family. He is survived by sons, Randy Root of Atlanta, Dan Root of Fife Lake, Steve Root of Spokane, Washington, and Paul Root of Michigan; daughters, Linda (Dennis) Neff of Howell, Bonnie Gladstone of South Lyon, Brenda (Randy) Adcock of Kingsley, and Toni (Nick) Jenks of Kingsley; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Jane Prater of Wauseon, Ohio. Az was preceded in death by his parents, Az and Bertha Root Sr; wife, May Root; and grandson, Scott Root. Funeral services for Mr. Root will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 2:30. Visitation will be from 12:30 until the time of service at Green Funeral Home, Atlanta, Michigan; Pastor Roger Steele officiating. Interment will take place at Hillman Rust Township Cemetery.
