Avis Marion Hawley Mrs. Avis Marion Hawley, 95 of Hillman, Michigan passed away on April 9, 2013 at her residence with loved ones by her side. She was born to the late Adam and Alta (Crawford) Wilder in Green Township, Michigan on April 7, 1918. She married husband, Carl Hawley at Greely Baptist Church on September 4, 1938 and celebrated fifty-five years of marriage with him before his passing in 1993. Avis lived most of her life in Hillman, living in the same house she was born in. She enjoyed traveling and loved to fly. She farmed for awhile, worked as a school teacher, and then worked for ten years or more at the Essex Wire Company. She loved to watch jeopardy and enjoyed painting, poetry, talking politics, and time on her property. Above all, she enjoyed her time spent with family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by son, Steven Hawley of Alpena; daughters, Caroline (Lowell) Tracey of Hillman; Marilyn Hawley of Onaway; Sharon (James) Sequin of Alpena; Kathy (Mark) Fee of Ossineke; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Alta Wilder; husband, Carl Hawley; sons, Carl Jr, John, and Gary; and grandchildren, Rosemary Tracey and Richard Hawley. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place. Internment will be at the Hillman Rust Township Cemetery in the spring with a graveside service provided in her memory.
