Arvella Mae "Sis" McMurphy Arvella Mae "Sis" McMurphy, 88, of Atlanta, MI passed away at her home on September 14, 2013. She was born on February 27, 1925 to Elmer and Edna (Fulkerson) Lunger in PA. She married Oral McMurphy on December 6, 1947 in Atlanta, MI. She was a member of the Atlanta Congregational Church and also a member of the Eastern Star, Atlanta Senior Center, and the Red Hatters. She was a past member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to paint and cook, especially baking. She was quite a seamstress, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Sis always liked to help people. Her biggest love was always her family. Sis is survived by her husband, Oral; son, David (Carol) McMurphy of Atlanta, MI; daughters, Janet (Dennis) Davis of Atlanta, MI, Joyce (Jeffrey) Elsea of Alma, MI, and Judy (Don) Williamson of Highlands Ranch, CO; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Edna; brothers, Marvin and Don; and sister Louise Burns. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service for Mrs. McMurphy on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Green Funeral Home, Atlanta, MI Pastors Keith and Ginny officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to the Atlanta Congregational Church.
