Arthur Gottlieb Schepke Arthur Gottlieb Schepke, 91, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012, at the home of his daughter Darlene, surrounded by family and friends. Art was born September 29, 1921 to the late Henry and Ida Schepke. He married Esther Lay in 1958 and she preceded him in death March 29, 2007. Art was a lifelong resident of Alpena and loved talking about Alpena's history. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1957, and was an extraordinarily kind & loving man who was deeply loved by all who knew him. Surviving are his sister Martha Conrad of Alpena; 4 daughters, Linda Sorensen of Paradise, California, Ida Jean Falk of Stuart, Florida, Patricia Wildfong of Midland, Michigan, Bonnie Johnson of Alpena; 2 step-daughters, Darlene Gapske & Violet LaRoche both of Alpena; and numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren. Art was a very talented musician playing both the violin & the concertina beautifully, was a creative artist of paintings to be treasured and was a skilled gardener, hybridizing 100's of gladiola's so they would look just the way he wanted them to. But the most important part of his life was sharing with others the knowledge he gained from the bible & the close relationship he had with Jehovah God was dearest to his heart. He truly was comforted by and is awaiting Jehovah's promise: "The meek themselves will possess the earth...and the righteous will live forever upon it." Psalms 37:11&29. Memorial Services for Art will be held Saturday 3:00 pm. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. 351 Long Rapids rd. Alpena. Officiating will be Michael Wawro. The family would prefer donations to the Kingdom Hall in lieu of flowers. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Green Funeral Home.
