Arthur Horvath

Arthur Horvath Mr. Arthur Horvath, 93 of Hillman, Michigan died peacefully with family at his side on the early morning of November 23, 2016. He was born in Ecorse, Michigan the son of the late, Michael and Mary (Chippo) Horvath on March 3, 1923. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy. He married his wife, Filomena (Grasso) Horvath in Detroit on August 3, 1946 and together the couple celebrated 70 years of marriage before his passing. He worked as a railroad conductor and switchman for Ford Motor Company in Dearborn and retired after 38 years. He moved to Hillman in 1985, formerly of Lincoln Park. Arthur was a life member of the American Legion in Lincoln Park and also a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Hillman. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing all year round. Above everything, Arthur enjoyed his time spent with friends and family and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Filomena Horvath of Hillman; sons, Arthur (Darlene) Horvath Jr of Grosse Isle; Matthew (Stacy) Horvath of Willow Springs, North Carolina; daughter, Stephanie (Edwin) LaFramboise of Hillman; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Anna (Martin) Brogley of Allen Park. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary Horvath; brother, Ernest; and sisters, Mary Poch and Elizabeth Weidenberger. Funeral services for Mr. Horvath will take place at 11:00AM on Monday, November 28, 2016 at the St. Augustine Catholic Church; Hillman; Fr. Michael Connor officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00AM until time of service. Private interment will take place at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery in Southgate.
