Archie Blanchard Wicks Archie Blanchard Wicks, 88, of Lewiston, MI, passed away on December 7, 2013 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 3, 1925 to Frank and Arda (Hunt) Wicks in Hillman Twp, MI. He married the former Phyllis Knorr on March 9, 1943 in Atlanta, MI. Archie served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He has lived in Lewiston for the past eight years, formerly of Otter Lake, MI. He retired from Delta Tube in Holly, MI with 30+ years of service. In retirement, he went to work as an Electrician for 10 more years, working for various contractors in the Flint area. He was a member of the American Legion. He was an avid story writer, writing for the Hometown Paper in Vanderbilt. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved to tie flies. He liked to play guitar, even was in a band at one time. Archie always had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed telling a joke or two to make people laugh. Archie is survived by his daughter, Laurel (Ted) Orm of Atlanta, MI; sons, Archie (Sue) Wicks of Flint, MI, and William (David Viers) Wicks of Charlotte, NC; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irene Bennett of Hillman, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; son Larry; and daughter, Elaine Long. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service with military honors for Mr. Wicks will be in the spring at the Hillman/Rust Twp Cemetery.
