Alfred John Purdy Alfred John Purdy, 86, of Alpena, MI, passed away at his residence on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at his residence. He was born on April 10, 1922 to Burt and Rosie (Bowan) Purdy in Montmorency Twp, MI. He married his wife Patricia on December 9, 1956 in Howell, MI. Al served his country during WWII in the US Army. He retired from GM after being employed at Willow Run for 35 yrs, then worked for Sumpter Ave Hardware for 13 yrs in retirement. He was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan and enjoyed fishing. He liked to watch the birds at the houses and feeders that he built. He loved his two dogs, Misty and Tillie. He enjoyed camping with the family when the girls were young. Above all else, his wife and children were the most important things to him. Alfred will always be loved and missed by his wife, Patricia of Alpena; daughters, Linda (Joe) Schneider of Highland, MI, and Catherine (Bill) Pagel of Belleville, MI; grandchildren, Jennifer, Kimberly, Michael, and Helen; great grandchildren, Taryne, David, Jake, Whitney, and Janis; and brothers, Charlie (Margaret) Purdy of Webberville, MI, and Dean Purdy of Alpena. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burt and Rosie Purdy; brothers, Floyd, Burt, and Merle, and a sister, Martha Penn. Funeral services for Mr Purdy will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Hillman, MI, Pastor Larry Kirby officiating. Interment will take at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 PM and again on Wednesday from 12:00 until time of service at the funeral home.
