Alfred Isaac Cawson Alfred Isaac Cawson, age 69, Atlanta, passed away on December 6, 2011 after a short but serious illness at the age of 69. He was born in Detroit on November 26, 1942, and grew up in the family home on Castleton Street. His father had a music store in Detroit. Alfred joined the U.S. Navy in the 1960's and served on destroyer escorts and other ships off the coast of Vietnam and elsewhere. About 1967, after riots hit Detroit, his family moved to Livonia, and Alfred moved to the family hunting cabin in Atlanta, Michigan. Alfred had a number of jobs: roofing, driving a semi-trailer truck, delivering Hertz rental cars and cleaning a business office. He operated his own lawn care business for customers around Atlanta and Alpena. He enjoyed duck and deer hunting and fishing around the area and was proud of walking the Mackinac Bridge many years on Labor Day. Alfred was married at one time, and divorced with no children from that marriage. He is survived by a brother Bob Cawson and his wife Christine of Fenton; nephews Anthony Cawson of Highland, MI, Bob Cawson studying at the University of Michigan, Matthew Cawson of Grand Rapids, and Robert Coursey of Fenton, MI; nieces Michelle Avery of Bryant, AR, and Lisa Cawson of Grand Rapids, MI; and sister in law, Rose Cawson of Walled Lake, MI. Others in his family have since passed away. A memorial service will be held at Green Funeral Home, Atlanta, on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 2:00 PM, Pastor Ginny Titus and Pastor Keith Titus officiating.
